We were all advised once that just to start losing weight required one to exercise for at least an hour but with the advances in understanding of how the body works this is no longer the case. Exercise is an essential part of any weight loss program. But with the hectic lifestyles we have today, we all want to discover the best exercises to lose weight quickly. There are three types of exercise and a schedule of most or all of these types for 2-3 days per week will see the fat burn away quickly.

The types of exercise are -
                    •  Aerobic
                    •  Strength Training (anaerobic)
                    •  Flexibility
Each of these work towards weight loss in different ways so a plan is needed. A more detailed look at these categories can help in planning a schedule. Aerobics are the best exercises to lose weight quickly as explained below.

Aerobics
This exercise burns fat while you are performing the exercise. It  involves rhythm and activities being repeated. It is the most important type of exercise if you want to lose weight quickly. It must be noted however that muscle weighs more than fat and while you are burning fat you will also be maintaining your  lean body mass by increasing muscle. Your initial weight loss may slow a little therefore, but don't be disappointed as muscle keeps fat levels down.

       • It takes more energy to maintain muscle than it does fat
       •  muscle actually burns calories while you are resting!  

Cycling
This is an exercise that will burn fat off quickly if done on a regular basis. It is very good in that it does not damage joints or cause  muscle problems as there is little impact. Also, carrying a drink bottle is a recommended practice to avoid dehydration. In all cycling can be classed as one of the easiest exercises to lose weight quickly because it can be done with friends and is enjoyable.
  
Stationary Cycling                                                                                                                            
This has similar results to real cycling and can be the main method or can be an alternative during inclement weather and as such fits very well into the category of exercises to lose weight quickly. Conversing, watching TV (among other things) at the same time can remove the boredom that the lack of stimulating scenery can induce when confined inside.
      
Jogging
This is a great aerobic exercise because it does not require expensive equipment. To avoid joint stress good quality footwear is a must because of the jarring that can occur. The fact that there are few restrictions on where it can be done is a plus.

Walking
A very popular form of exercise worldwide, walking is the most convenient way to exercise. While less calories and therefore fat are burned than jogging this level can be increased  by walking further, faster and more often.

Swimming
Possibly the best option when considering exercises to lose weight quickly. It involves most of the large muscles of the body working them against the resistance of the water. At the same time however the body weight is reduced by the flotation effect ensuring it is excellent for arthritics, the overweight or those with joint problems.

Strength Training
The object of strength training is to build muscle not directly assist with weight loss. However muscle, we already know, burns more calories than fat so weight loss follows indirectly. Examples of strength training are weight training, push-ups and squats. Aerobics are good exercises to lose weight quickly but even better results are achieved  when strength training is combined with the aerobics

Flexibility
This part of the exercise strategy plays little part in the process of losing weight but it is important to keep the body from stiffening up. Most of these exercises are about stretching of muscles,  tendons and ligaments. As we get older we tend to get stiff and less supple. By adding flexibility exercises to the overall plan we can slow this from happening but more importantly being flexible allows the other exercises to be performed more easily and reduces the possibility of injury.

In summary, there is nothing secretive about losing weight. You merely have to utilise more calories than you take in. Despite this if we all believed it was easy to lose weight there would be a world of lean and slim people.
