Effects of Speeding up the Metabolism

The metabolism of every person in the world is something that is individual. The metabolism that you have is dependent on several factors including your physical condition, your age and the amount of fat and muscle that you have on your body. Do you need to consider speeding up the metabolism  when you know that people who are more active tend to have a higher metabolism. This is  because they have more muscle than fat and muscle burns more calories than fat in the body.

If you have a low metabolism, there may be several reasons why this is so. Factors such as a low-calorie diet, a lack of physical activity, fasting and eating too much sugary food can all result in a low metabolism. If you do have a low metabolism it is possible to speed it up, resulting in more calories being burned and it being turned into muscle. When speeding up the metabolism, individuals should eat 5 or 6 meals per day instead of the usual 3. It is important that none of these meals are missed and that fasting does not take place. You can also start activities such as weight lifting to build your muscles. Now that you know that muscle burns more calories than fat, exercises such as weight lifting will help to speed up your metabolism no end!

There are natural ways to help with speeding up the  metabolism. Some people recommend drinking a concoction of apple cider vinegar, honey and garlic. Other foods such as chilli, water, mustard, green tea and foods that contain complex carbohydrates can also aid the process of speeding up your metabolism. It is also possible to purchase over-the-counter tablets, most of which contain an animal thyroid, although they are not recommended. There are side effects associated with these pills; you may experience excessive sweating, diarrhoea, tremors, anxiety and an increased heart rate.

Once you have made a decision about speeding up the metabolism you will start to notice the benefits, particularly if you are aiming to turn fat into muscle. With high intensity activities such as weightlifting, the time after an exhausting workout is most important. It is a common misconception that in order to gain lean muscle mass and bigger muscles quickly, you need to exercise every day of the week. In fact the muscles need time to rest in order to grow. When you exercise you are actually breaking down the muscle to start with, not building it up. It is at this point that the metabolism is being sped up and the rewards for all your hard work are being rewarded. Once you are resting, the muscles begin to repair themselves, making themselves bigger so that they do not break down so easily in the future. This process is repeated over time leading to your muscles becoming larger than they once were, hence you now have a toned and muscular body.

Another of the effects of speeding up the metabolism is that your body will be burning more calories when you are at rest. No matter what you are doing, you body is using calories to perform all of the necessary functions. After this, any leftover calories are stored as fat or are used up by the larger muscles. Hence if you  increase the intensity of your physical activity, you are speeding up the  metabolism which in turn means that more calories are burned by muscle.
